Who is Nensi Dojaka?

06/19/2024

Nensi Dojaka is a prominent London based designer from Albania who is looking to "repaint the image of woman" and to express "the vulnerability, but mainly the strength that characterizes them". Through sheer and delicate layers of tule, strong and intricate metal steel, as well as unique silhouette molds, her garments show how the female body and aura is so strong yet so gentle.

Deriving inspiration from the divine feminine, as well as the working masculine, she unapologetically plays with the duality of gender and clothing when it comes to her pieces. In her shows, she frequently styles lingerie cut out sheer tops with suits, not only expressing duality in terms of shape and texture but as well as the usage, from evening wear to day wear.

Dojaka obtained a BA focusing on lingerie design at the London College of Fashion before moving on to the Central Saint Martins MA program, where her graduate collection resulted in a capsule collection with Ssense in 2019.

Shortly after in 2021, she was awarded the prestigious LVMH Prize for young fashion designers. The prize included a €300,000 endowment and a year of mentorship from the best in the industry.

Dojaka's pieces are loved by many, especially celebrities and stylists. Her pieces have been seen in a plethora of red carpets, premieres and upscale events. From the likes of Zendaya, Megan Fox, Kendall Jenner and more.

Dojaka is carefully stitching the line between lingerie and eveingwear in the world of fashion. Through feminine and soft inspired color palettes, experimenting with sheer fabrics and asymmetric shape, she emphasizes the accentuation of the womanly figure. This trend of hyperfemininity goes in direct juxtaposition with the recent trends seen in "streetwear" such as oversized silouhettes, clash of colors and prints that creates a more "gender neutral" look and merges the line between female and male garments.

As Dojaka continues her career, it is important to note her remarkable feats in such a short amount of time. Her ongoing commitment and drive to her art is truly inspiring and takes a new approach on "dressing sexy". Her pieces capture the female body in its radiant and divine light rather than stripping it of its elegance and power. Through intricate and thought out placement she is able to show off the female figure in a non provocative and non vulgar way.
